“Library at the centre of learning”
METROPOLIA MYYRMÄKI’S LIBRARY
Metropolia University of Applied Sciences offers a library in each of its nine campuses in Agricolankatu, Bulevardi,Leppävaara, Myyrmäki, Onnentie, Sofianlehdonkatu, Tikkurila, Tukholmankatu, VanhaViertotie in Helsinki. Furthermore to offer a better and richer service to its students, it has a partnership with: Aralis Library and Information Centre, Helsinki Conservatory of Music Library and University of Helsinki Dental Library.
The Myyrmäki library is located in Leiritie 1, A side, 2nd floor and it is open during the semester on Monday and Wednesday from 9 until 18.30, on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 until 17 and on Friday from 10 until 15.
The library offers research literature relevant to the Business and Technology fields. The collections are focused on automation engineering, bio and food technology, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, materials technology and surface engineering, business administration and social sciences. There are around 24000 titles, including textbooks (with several copies of each one), magazines and journals, final papers and audio-visual material. All the printed material is catalogued in the MetCat database. The users can borrow any material with their librarycards and they can renew the loan easily through the library website. There is electronic material as well and the students can use it on theNelli portal, which offers reference work, dictionaries and learning material.
The library is divided into four areas: a “reading area”, in which the students can relax, read newspapers; another “studying area”, in which the users can review books; a “closed room” where the students can enjoy the silence and concentrate on their readings; a “computer area” which has 18 PCs, 2 printers and 2 scanners. The library services are highly appreciated by the students, who hang out and use the library daily. Students especially enjoy the computer services since they do not always have the possibility to print or scan documents at home. You can also checkin to the library via Foursquare: Myyrmäki Library Foursquare page
If you haven’t used the library service yet, come and check it out!
