What do you want to think about when you look back on your time as a student? Will you think about the lectures that got your head spinning (in good and confusing ways)? Or will you think of the people with whom you went on this journey?
I will remember all the experiences I’ve got as a student. As a fresher (first year student), I became fascinated by the students who organize events and help other students. I wanted to be one of them.
I was selected to be a tutor for the student organisation Trombi. I didn’t know what to expect. I can say I didn’t expect to learn so much. I was anyway lucky to get a chance to learn from so many inspiring students.
A student organisation does so many things. For example, they do student advocacy, help with tutoring and organize different kinds of student events. In Trombi I was part of a team who worked hard to make studying a bit more fun for others. In one year, I learned from other Trombi board members about time management, event organisation, marketing and how to work better as part of a team. I was also constantly reminded about how amazing studying business can be.
Being a tutor is wonderful! I was able to meet so many tutors from different study fields whom I can genuinely call my friends. The best part though is tutoring new students. I got to help my class figure out student life, studying and social life. I helped my class to form into a group of students who were there for each other.
Sometimes student life isn’t easy. During those times it helps to have a support network from the other students around you.
